Whoo! Can you believe it? I only have ten more days of High School.

As I wrap things up the last few days before my graduation, I am going to be secluding myself from the online world a bit at least until June 11th. I simply don’t have the time to socialize with my contract work, regular job and graduation plans.

Also.., I won’t lie to y’all… I want to spend time with my friends and going to various events around town when I graduate.

After all that is over, I will be back to posting regularly again with some pretty large plans in store

Many schools block social networks that are even remotely Facebookish in nature.

At my school, lesser known social networks such as Simler and Cliqset are blocked under the social networking category. Thankfully, e-mail has been spared the filter due to the fact it is deemed by many schools as a “professional” way to communicate with teachers as well as send papers home when the need arises.

How long will this be though?

As Gmail leads the forefront of mixing social networking and email, others will follow, and you can be sure that eventually, students will be using them. To a public school, this is simply not tolerable since social networking in nearly all of its forms are deemed to be “scary” and a “distraction.” I mean, my god, a kid won’t find a way to distract themselves in some other form or fashion on a computer if you block Facebook!

So my question is, will schools start blocking e-mail? It is inevitable if social and email continue to mix the way it is now, public schools are still much too fearful of social media, and god only knows what some crazy parents might say if schools allowed such activity within an email application.

What do you think? Should high school students be worried that one day, their email access will one day be no more?

Dolphin is, dare I say, a sophisticated browser. It is fast, light, and really makes me want to browse the web on my G1, much like Safari makes you want to surf the web on the iPhone.

Hey, fun fact about me, I LOVE social services.

I enjoy being social in general, in grade school I often was considered the “social butterfly”, much to the bane of my teachers existence. Being a social butterfly is what makes me, well, me.

So I found it kind of interesting that after a few days of trying out Buzz, I decided to shut it off.

You see, I live in Gmail, so when I first caught wind that Google was going to make Gmail a bit more social, I was pumped. Finally, two of the worlds I love living in (well, one of those worlds have been put on hold) are going to collide in a massive amount of awesome that will give the tech world a collective orgasm.

Turns out I was wrong! (OH SNAP! Did a former tech blogger admit he was wrong?)

But I am not against it because of that whole privacy schpeal that makes Google evil as Dave Winer suggests. I could give a flying fuck about my privacy. In my opinion, once you click on your preferred browser (GO CHROME!) you have automatically given up your right to privacy. Now, I know this is an extremist view on the matter and I can think of plenty of counter arguments to my measly thoughts on privacy, but that is my honest to god opinion on the matter.

So no, privacy is a non issue, its the hardcore lack of innovation that Google has brought to Buzz that bothers me.

There is absolutely nothing new that Buzz brings to me that Twitter or FriendFeed have already brought to me. Hell, they both do their respective jobs better than Buzz, and Google expects to compete with… this?

Come on Google, you dudes and gals are supposed to be like… f-ing geniuses. MIT and Stanford shit up in here, best of the best in their respective engineering fields.

Or is that the problem?

I mean, good lord, we all know Google is full of geniuses, but are they the social kind of geniuses? Does their really exist a “social” genius? I have already meet a few very smart people in Boston, turns out they can talk a lot about theories, math problems and how genius they really are, but try to carry a conversation with them for more ten minutes about what they plan to do on the weekend, or what girls they are interested in.

Blank stares.

So Google, you sucked Buzz, I shut it off and you need to hire some social geniuses.

That is all.

Knowing me and my nerdy self, I just couldn’t help but shell out $9.95 for wireless internet 30,000 feet in the air.

Do I feel awesome? Quite bluntly, yes.

With that aside, my week thus far has actually been pretty horrid. I am part of the DC speech team and it turns out that I did good enough last year to go to a speech meet at Harvard, an experience I simply couldn’t pass up. The trip is six days long, with two of those days being spent sitting in rooms, delivering a speech that I have yet to memorize.

Great, right?

Turns out not so much.

Yesterday I woke up with a painful stomachache and could not attend school. Turns out I had the stomach flu and was basically puking every 20 minutes or so for a good five hours.

Now, if you know me, you know I am efficiently lazy. This means I had most of my stuff together for the trip but not everything. My original plan was to spend all of Wednesday night doing that.

#fail

So now I am on a plane, typing this post from 30,000 feet in the air and hoping that whatever I shoved in my suitcase is enough to get me through six days of Harvard.

I forgot dress socks.

But all is well, I have my internet, and excluding my achy bones from puking all day yesterday, I am feeling great.

Go me and in-flight wireless internet.

As a young adult myself who dipped his feet into the tech world, Daniel deserves what he is getting to the utmost extent. He took the opportunity of a life time and crushed it in his hands by being unethical and he, appropriately, was fired for it.

I can honestly say I have never been fired from a job, because I knew the ethical rules and I played by them. Whether it was when I worked at McDonald’s or delivering newspapers, I had certain duties and rules I had to follow which meant I was no longer playing in the kid world, I was playing in the grown up world, and the excuse “I am young!” when I fucked up was simply not good enough.

When you get a job, you are no longer a kid, you are, in that context, an adult.

Whether you like it or not.

Now, this is not to say I haven’t fucked up myself.

Trust me, I have done plenty of shit that I am sure Daniel hasn’t. I am by no means an innocent child, and my parents know that fairly well (I love you, Mom and Dad). But when it came down to my employment responsibilities I worked my ass off and never once compromised ethics.

And don’t think I haven’t had the opportunity.

So, Daniel.

Young adult to young adult.

Act like one and issue a real apology, not a passing of the buck.

Writer: OMFG AND JIZZ IN MY PANTS, GOOGLE RELEASED URL SHORTENER

Editor: WTF are you telling me this for!?!?! Write bitch, write!!!

Writer: AH! DAMN IT! MG Seigler beat us again!!!!!

Editor: *shakes fist at computer*

If you think I am over exaggerating, think again. Excusing the “write bitch, write!!!” bit (I have this fetish with cussing at least once in every post) I am actually pretty spot on. I know the game, I have played it, albeit temporarily. It’s all about being first (which makes MG the bane of almost every tech bloggers existing that do not write for TechCrunch) to get the numbers.

Sadly, this numbers game has lead to crap, crap, crap and OH!!!! YOU GUESSED IT!

More crap.

So instead of bitching about it (haha, I swore twice!!! should I make it a third?) like I usually do, I am proposing a solution!

Every tech blogger should take ceramics and master the art of making a cup.

Oh, don’t worry, I hear the screams of torture already as bloggers think about touching their pristine iPhone’s with clayed up hands. God forbid the Apple logo be scratched!

But there is a reason behind my madness, and here it is!

Making a good cup takes time, just like writing a good post takes time.

There is not ONE cup that was made fast that looked good. Sure, it might’ve looked good, but once you put it in the kiln, the piece will crack.

Much like many tech bloggers posts. When put under light scrutinization you see all the holes in their post.

If you take your time though, a cup will come out of the kiln with little to no cracks and will be of long term value. Same applies to a well written post, there will be very little to tear apart and you can expect it to be linked to or be a topic of discussion.

So tech bloggers, learn how to make a good cup.

That is all.
