How To: Get Customers To Your Updates Via SMS
Saturday, August 15, 2009 at 7:45PM
A few days ago I wrote about why your company should be pimping SMS updates using Twitter and Facebook. in this post I want to explain how. Here are three ways that I believe your business can effectively advertise SMS updates while being non-intrusive.
1. Use Your Website
The most effective way to push out the availability of SMS updates to customers is to use your company site as the entrance. There are various ways to go about this, such as adding a simple link in the navigation bar or even prominently displaying a graphic button encouraging users to get your updates via SMS. Make sure though that if a customer clicks on the link that you do not leave them to their own devices. Instead, make a web page explaining how and why they should subscribe to your Twitter/Facebook updates.
2. Monthly Reminders
As time goes by you should be getting more followers/fans on your social media accounts. These new followers may not know about the ability to receive updates via SMS, let them know by tweeting out a monthly reminder with a link on how-to.
The most important thing that will make customers want to subscribe to you via SMS is actually tweeting out useful stuff that pertains to your company or the niche your company is in. Nothing beats a high-quality tweet/Facebook status update, make every update count and make sure it adds value to your customers at all times.
