Shocking? Microsoft Security Essentials Is #1

Microsoft Security Essentials rated best free antivirus for Windows.

The security world is a bit a buzz over the fact that Microsoft Security Essentials is, dare I say it?

Pretty f*ing great.

Even I, a long time believer that you do not need any anti-virus software if you are a responsible internet consumer, has downloaded and thoroughly enjoyed MSE.

It is light, quick and easy to use. There is no bull with MSE, it scans and either tells you there are viruses or it simply sits there. Unlike Norton, or various other virus protection suites, you are not getting pop ups for various upgrades or other random notifications that simply downgrade your computing experience. MSE also runs with no noticeable performance dip, which was probably the true reason I hated anti-virus suites.

All in all, credit is given where credit is due, and MSE is rockin' it. Let's hope that MS can keep it up or they will have many people who will be sorely disappointed and I can't imagine the community backlash if MSE fell to the wayside.

Have you used MSE? What did you think?

I am liking it. It runs like a dream on my old P4 box, now I am thinking it's time to get rid of Avast on my main machine. I have just been holding out to see if anything goes wrong.

I have never used Avast, so I can't compare.

I kinda just assume all those big anti-virus companies blow (however unfair that is to say)
