LocaFollow – Find Your Future Tweets By Location and Bio Info

Searching for local and new Twitter followers isn’t exactly the easiest thing to do. You basically follow some people on Twitter initially, hope and pray they are active and talk to people with similar interests as you. It’s not all that fun and it is sort of time consuming (and also probably helps explains Twitter’s high turn over rate).

LocaFollow, a Twitter user search engine powered by Google, solves that problem amazingly well.

Upon visiting LocaFollow, you will notice that the location box will be filled with the town you live in. While this is convenient, it isn’t exactly all that helpful considering it does not pre-fill the state for you as well. Good thing that this initial downfall does not degrade LocaFollow in general.

The Search Experience

LocaFollow provides a consistent and fast search experience. There are no weird quirks, random errors or bouts of slowness. You either get results or you don’t.

As for the actual results themselves, they are quite intuitive and feature filled.

Every Twitter profile result comes with a detailed list of followers, followings and the number of tweets. In addition, basic information such as their Bio and location are displayed too. This is common information though and is a standard display of Twitter profile information in a third party application. The neat features are when you sign into LocaFollow.

Signing into LocaFollow via Twitter OAuth, you can follow people directly from LocaFollow either individually or in bulk. This is extremely convenient since other services require the lovely old-fashioned copy and paste. Just make sure you uncheck “follow us” if you do not wish to follow the LocaFollow Twitter account.

Final Thought

LocaFollow is a great little search engine with a unique feature set that is very well thought out. Only problem, there is no reason for me to continually use it and I am sure that is the case for many others, which means those ad slots to the right of the results will be empty for a long time.

Have you tried out LocaFollow? Leave your thoughts of the service in the comments.

Any company that wants to up their ability to be found will have to take social into consideration in a big way. This looks like a great tool to target local markets for smallbiz and I will be using it to see what results I get for clients, like the bulk follow ability anything that saves time is great. Nice post glad I found thru Lazyfeed and keyword Local, Search, Twitter, and it came up in the Twitter column. Also Bio search for targeting example Graphic Designer - for a business coach client of mine that specializes in helping them is also great.  Nice post - new reader for your blog.
