Did I Just Agree With Scoble About... The iPhone?

85,000 reasons why Apple’s iPhone isn’t going to be disrupted.

That right there, is a post by Scoble, that I agree with. If you don't know the history between Scoble and I, then you have missed out, if you do know the history, your jaw has probably dropped. Especially because it is over the number one phone I hate, the i(jesus)Phone.

Anyways, I am going to go about explaining why I agree with him.

Look, we can all admit that the iPhone and its maker, Apple, are draconian as f*ck. If you can't admit that, you are beyond a fanboy and simply stupid. Funny thing is, none of you iPhone users are going to move away from the iPhone, and Scoble hit it right on the head as to why.

Apps.

There are some amazing apps available on the iPhone, the latest tech blogosphere's iPhone App love child, Tweetie 2, is especially amazing to use. So while you might hate the iPhone and its draconian ways, you probably won't leave the iPhone simply because you love Tweetie 2 so much and there does not exist a comparable app on other mobile platforms.

Apple has now hooked you where it hurts.

This is very reminiscent as to why I won't switch to Ubuntu as my full time OS. I find it superior in every way to Windows and yet I will not switch.

Why?

Microsoft Office 2007, I love it.

It is a beautiful piece of software and the ribbon interface gives me an excuse to open it. I love using it and guess what? Ubuntu, and other Linux distros simply don't have a comparable product. Sure, OpenOffice works fine, but it doesn't offer the same experience that Microsoft Office does.

This concept also applies to my now default music player, Zune. I simply won't leave it and I will put up with Windows to have it. Call me stupid, I don't care.

So guess what? Scoble is right, you iPhone addicts can b*tch as much as you want, you aren't leaving.

You can't leave your apps behind.

You (and Scoble for that matter) are definitely right.  Apple has iPhone junkies right where they want them.  Because AT&T's service is so spotty in my area, I use a Verizon smartphone...but it's just not the same.  I'm finding myself using my iPod Touch more and more just because it can use the apps.

The apps are VERY addicting.

It is the reason I won't go to the ZUNE HD if I get a PMP device.

The Zune HD is superior in terms of hardware and UI, but only 8 apps? No way.

But when I get my new phone I am still going to go with Android. I don't have aniPhone now and don't intend on getting addicted :)
