Michael Scott Paper Company Made Their First Sale, I Feel Like I Exist

I love The Office.

It is simply one of the best shows I have ever watched. I mean, who hasn’t had a weird boss, odd co-workers, with occasional job relationships slipped in?

Alright, that might be just me. But anyways, I was just catching up on season five and it turns out, the Michael Scott Paper Company just made its first sale. The excitement in their faces was friggin’ amazing and it reminded me of something last week.

I got my first comment on Pages Are Social.

When I got my first comment on Pages Are Social, I felt validated as a blog, much like Michael Scott felt validated as a paper mill company.

It gave me a reason to keep on investing time and effort to continue blogging. It was my version of currency.

I think every blogger needs that, some notification that they exist and a comment can do just that and I don’t think readers do that enough.

Now, I am not going to go on a rant about distributed conversations (I support them 100%), or rant about how many comments I get or don’t get (that is just silly) but sometimes a blogger really enjoys a comment on their own space. It gives us a reason to keep going and for people who love to blog, you have no idea how much a comment can bring a smile to our face.

So, my suggestion, the next time you read a post and you enjoy it, instead of commenting on say, FriendFeed, Google Reader or even Twitter, think about leaving a comment.

Comments are sometimes that extra little push that keeps us going and bringing you the content you (hopefully) enjoy.

  • Absolutely true. I have Tweeted many of your blogs out to my business users.
But just as you have said have only added commented a few times on your blog.

    Keep up the good work!!

I hope this comment brings you an additional increment of pleasure.
  • Lol, thanks.

Make sure you do the same for other bloggers :)
  • That's why Disqus is so good. You can leave a comment here and it still goes social. have the best of both worlds. I was pushing JS-Kit, but I think Disqus is the best for now.
I agree, as bloggers, we really want engagement, and that's where comments come in, and it can give the post more value if someone adds something valuable to the conversation.
I have very few comments, mostly 0 on most posts. I was reading this guy said if you don't have any comments turn the commenting section off because there's nothing more depressing as seeing a blog with no comments. I was like "Yes you're right!" Hahahaahahahha, but I'll leave them on anyway, just in case.......:-)
